Research Interest:
This case study examines nursing care management in a patient with Acute Myocardial Infarction (AMI). The primary objective was to evaluate comprehensive nursing care approaches and outcomes in acute cardiac care settings. A 65-year-old Thai male patient presented with severe chest pain, profuse sweating, and dyspnea, who was subsequently diagnosed with STElevation Myocardial Infarction (STEMI) through electrocardiography and cardiac biomarker analysis, requiring immediate medical intervention and specialized nursing care. Nursing interventions were systematically implemented, focusing on continuous vital sign monitoring, thorough chest pain assessment using standardized pain scales, timely medication administration following evidence-based protocols, early complication detection and prevention strategies, and structured patient education programs. The clinical course demonstrated progressive improvement with stable hemodynamics and significant reduction in chest pain intensity. Throughout the seven-day hospitalization period, no cardiac complications were observed, and continuous cardiac monitoring showed improved myocardial function. Upon discharge, both patient and family demonstrated comprehensive understanding of self-care management principles, medication adherence requirements, risk factor modification, and necessary lifestyle changes. The study highlights the critical importance of holistic nursing care in AMI patients. Continuous assessment, prompt evidence-based interventions, and comprehensive patient and family education significantly contributed to improved patient safety and enhanced quality of life post-discharge. These findings emphasize the crucial role of systematic nursing care in achieving positive clinical outcomes and preventing future cardiac events through effective patient education and lifestyle modification support. The case demonstrates the vital impact of specialized cardiac nursing care in acute settings and the importance of family involvement in the recovery process.
